Introduction
This program is established between NYCU and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) to foster collaboration in Semiconductor and Computer Science. Candidates will conduct research under joint supervision from both institutions and, upon successful completion, will be awarded doctoral degree certificates from both universities.

Admission Requirements

• Eligibility: PhD students from the Colleges of ICST, ECE, Engineering, IAIS, CS, and Science.
• Academic Criteria: Candidates must meet the admission criteria of the relevant departments at both universities.
• Prerequisite: Students must pass the PhD qualifying exam at NYCU before going abroad.
• Language: The thesis and oral defense must be conducted in English.

Application Procedure

• Nomination: Interested students should be nominated by their respective colleges to the TU/e contact point.
• Individual Agreement: Once nominated, the candidate must consult with supervisors from both sides to draw up an agreement (Annex 2) specifying the research proposal, funding, and stay periods.
• Committee Approval: Admission must be unanimously approved by the joint Program Committee.

Study Period & Degree Requirements

• Duration: Candidates are expected to complete the program within four years, depending on individual research progress.
• Residency: A minimum of two years (accumulated) must be spent at each institution. Students must complete at least 2 semesters at the home university before starting at the partner university.
• Supervision: One supervisor will be appointed from each university.
• Graduation: The oral defense is typically held once at TU/e, with an additional defense at NYCU if required.

Costs & Responsibilities

• Tuition: Students pay tuition to their home university and are exempt from tuition fees at the partner university.
• Scholarship: Research scholarships may be provided by the home university, and potentially by the partner university.
• Student Expenses: Travel, visa, accommodation, living expenses, and international health insurance are the responsibility of the student (unless otherwise subsidized).
• Intellectual Property: Research outcomes shall be jointly owned by both universities. If third-party funding is involved, a separate written agreement shall be established. Any publication or commercialization requires prior written consent from both parties.
