This summer, technology is hitting the road. National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), in collaboration with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), has officially launched the Belight AI Semiconductor outreach program—an ambitious national campaign to bring the wonders of AI and semiconductors into everyday life.

Over 40 enthusiastic graduate students from NYCU’s Institute of Electronics have transformed into science communicators, traveling to schools and communities across Taiwan. From July 1 onward, they’ll be visiting over 60 campuses—from kindergartens to high schools—spanning from the southern tip of Kaohsiung to the northern edge of Taipei.

Their mission: to make AI and semiconductor science fun, relatable, and inspiring.

Throughout the summer, NYCU graduate students journey across Taiwan, making advanced technologies accessible to all through simple, engaging language.

A Nationwide Tech Carnival for All Ages

The Belight AI program was co-initiated by NYCU students, faculty, alumni, and industry leaders, including those from TSMC, as a shared commitment to technology education and corporate social responsibility. The initiative emphasizes accessibility, turning complex scientific ideas into playful, interactive learning experiences that people of all ages can understand and enjoy.

The first stop of the tour kicked off at Hsin Chya Elementary School in Kaohsiung, where students led hands-on workshops designed with gamified, age-appropriate content. Whether it’s a curious kindergartener or a science-inclined high schooler, every participant finds their own entry point into the world of AI.

Professor Kuei-Ann Wen, Director of NYCU Social Responsibility Development Office and one of the lead organizers of the project, emphasized the program’s deeper purpose: “We don’t want to lecture students. We want to ignite their imagination and help them feel the joy of science. This is not about rote memorization—it’s about planting seeds of curiosity.”

Wen added, “Our hope is to create a vibrant summer technology carnival—one where science becomes part of children’s dreams, not just textbooks.”

A Two-Way Street: Sharing Knowledge, Inspiring Futures

For the student presenters, the experience has proven to be as transformative as it is educational.

“Technology education is more than a one-way transfer of knowledge—it’s a dialogue of hearts and minds,” said Li-Chun Weng, a graduate student at NYCU’s Institute of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “Using simple language, interactive games, and custom teaching tools, I’ve learned that we not only have the power to share what we know—we have a responsibility to help others feel the human warmth of technology.”

As Taiwan continues to lead in global semiconductor innovation, NYCU is making it clear: building the future starts with engaging the next generation, and making sure no dream is too small and no concept too complex.
