The Bio-Rad ChemiDoc series imaging systems provide exceptional imaging performance and feature an intuitive user interface. The ChemiDoc MP model supports multiple imaging techniques, including chemiluminescence, visible light imaging, stain-free imaging, and standard protein/DNA gel imaging. It also offers multi-color fluorescence capabilities that cover red, green, blue, near-infrared, and infrared (RGB+NIR/IR) wavelengths. Additionally, the system is compatible with most commercially available fluorescent dyes. Below is an illustration of the fluorescent dyes supported by the ChemiDoc MP system.
| Blue | Green | Red | Far Red | Near Infrared |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DyLight 488 | DyLight 550 | DyLight 650 | DyLight 680 | DyLight 800 |
| Alexa Fluor 488 | Alexa Fluor 546 | Alexa Fluor 647 | Alexa Fluor 680 | Alexa Fluor 790 |
| Cy2 | Cy3 | Cy5 | Cy5.5 | Cy7 |
| Rhodamine | SYPRO Ruby | IRDye 680 | IRDye 800 |
The ChemiDoc MP system features a 12-inch touchscreen panel, offering straightforward and intuitive operation. Both the ChemiDoc MP and ChemiDoc deliver sensitivity and image quality truly comparable to film-based methods, while remaining remarkably simple to use. Simply zoom the imaging area with your finger on the touchscreen; the system automatically focuses in real time. Select your application, click to expose, and obtain publication-ready images.

Detailed light source filter wavelengths:
Image Lab - Image Analysis Software:
Image Lab image analysis software supports both Windows and Mac systems, with periodic updates. Beyond this imaging system, it can also process files captured by other imaging systems, analysing any uncompressed 16-bit or 8-bit greyscale TIFF files. It offers multifunctional capabilities, enabling image editing, molecular weight calculation, quantitative analysis, annotation, and generation of standardised reports. Sequential operations facilitate comprehensive image optimisation and data analysis. Output files can be saved in multiple formats, including TIF, JPEG, Excel spreadsheets, and PDF reports.

Turning on the instrument
- The first user of the day should press the On/Off button located in front of the device to start the instrument.
- After self-diagnosis, the main screen will be displayed. Touch anywhere and choose your lab's account to log in.
Instrument use
- In camera mode, select the image size, application mode, and exposure settings in sequence to capture a photo.
- Use the corresponding tray and accessories correctly according to the application mode.
- For non-transmitted light applications, such as chemiluminescence and fluorescence, please operate with the matte black acrylic plate attached. For transmitted light applications, such as nucleic acid gels or silver staining, remove the acrylic plate and capture directly with the tray.
- Zoom in on the view (let the membrane close to the edge) to get better resolution before image acquisition.
- Keep clean and avoid splashing samples or reagents to prevent environmental contamination.
- If a previous user contaminates the tray, record it in the logbook to avoid misunderstandings.
- After use, wipe the tray with a secondary water dilution of the reagent, then repeat the secondary water rinse on both the tray and the black acrylic surface.
- If you are not the last user of the day, there is no need to power off the machine. Please log out of your account and return to the home screen (sleep mode).
- It is strictly prohibited to use gloves; EtBr samples are also banned.
Instrument shutdown
The last user of the day (after 5 pm) should press the On/Off button (in front of the device) to turn off the instrument after use.
