- Friday: 9:00 – 1200
System Open Level
- General working hours: Level B、Level D
- Night and holiday periods: Level C
System Level Description
- Level A: Open to students who need to use it. They can operate it independently after training and assessment.
- Level B: Each professor nominates one student for training, while the rest operate under those who have been trained. Professors with multiple students using the instrument can request an increase in the number of students receiving training.
- Level C: The instrument administrator selects several students recommended by the professor to receive training. After passing the assessment, they can operate the instrument independently and be responsible for the delegated operation service.
- Level D: The technical personnel of this machine shall accept commissioned services.
Charging standards
- On-campus: NT$1,200/hour (please prepare your own Isoflurane)
- Off-campus: NT$3,000/hour (please prepare your own Isoflurane)
- Commission Service Fee: NT$4,500 per hour
Note:
- Billing commences upon software login and CCD cooling initiation. Billing concludes upon completion of data burning, cleaning of experimental supplies, and software logout, with immediate return of the access card required.
- Due to the high cost of CCDs and the risk of moisture condensation from frequent temperature cycling, consecutive reservations for the same experiment on the same day shall be charged from the initial software launch. The software must remain open throughout to prevent CCD heating and moisture condensation. Billing concludes upon completion of the final session on that day. ** Example: Tracking tracer metabolism in a living organism at hourly intervals over four hours. The fee period begins when the software is logged in, and CCD cooling starts. The fee settlement time is after the final session is completed, including burning the results, cleaning experimental equipment, and logging out of the software.
- Off-campus users must first undergo a commissioned service for their initial use of this machine. Technical personnel will operate the equipment and conduct technical proficiency assessments for off-campus users who have received prior training, enabling them to operate independently in the future. Therefore, the hourly usage fee for off-campus users during their first session is NT$3,000 + NT$4,500 = NT$7,500. After passing the assessment, future use of this machine will not require any more service. The fee will be charged according to the standard rate: NT$3,000 per hour for non-university personnel.
- Off-campus individuals wishing to operate the equipment independently must first undergo training and pass an assessment. Qualified individuals must present valid identification for verification of eligibility to use the equipment.
- Off-campus entities wishing to use this equipment must have their experimental animals housed at the Experimental Animal Center on the Hsinchu Bo-Ai Campus of this university to schedule usage.
Instrument usage regulations:
- This instrument is designed for general tissue or cell samples. If you want to experiment with other infectious samples, please talk about it with the technical operator first.
- Wearing gloves while operating computers is strictly prohibited.
- The standard operating procedures must be followed while using the instrument. Please make sure to comply with the instrument usage regulations. Failure to comply with the rules three times will result in suspension of the right to use.
- Please thoroughly clean the instrument and operating surface after use. Fill out the instrument usage registration form and notify the instrument administrator to conduct an inspection (clean with 70% alcohol).
- If the instrument malfunctions, please let the technical personnel know as soon as possible. Please don't try to disassemble or assemble the instrument yourself. Inform the technical operator or instrument manager of the instrument failure immediately. You must bear the repair costs if the instrument is damaged due to personal use.
- You can only use Isoflurane in gas anesthesia devices.
- To access image-related data, bring your own DVD burner. Saving files on the computer and using USBs are strictly prohibited. Violators will have their right to use it suspended for one month.
- If you publish papers in journals using IVIS equipment, you can offset the one-time usage fee.
Instrument Management
- The instrument is managed by full-time faculty members with experience operating it in the College of Engineering Bioscience. Relevant personnel, funding, and usage issues are discussed with full-time faculty members from the College of Engineering Bioscience who have experience operating the instrument.
- Personnel, funding, and charging standards must be submitted to the Department's Resource Committee for resolution and implemented after approval by the Department Affairs Meeting.
- At least one or two seminars are held annually for education and training. If necessary, various training fees may be charged.
- The instrument has an assistant for equipment management and maintaining the surrounding environment. Depending on usage conditions, it will be decided whether to increase the workforce.
- The instrument has several instrument seed instructors. They are postgraduate students with certification and operating licenses (issued by the instrument manufacturer) who can lead and assist users in operating the instrument. In principle, seed instructors can be paid with a work-study allowance. However, no salary will be paid if the seed instructor leads their own laboratory users to operate the instruments.
Terms of use:
- Users are required to pass a certification to use it
- Participate in the "IVIS Usage Principles" and "IVIS Hands-on Training" courses and pass the assessment to obtain a certification to use it yourself.
Note: This instrument holds at least one or two seminars annually for education and training. If necessary, various training fees may be charged.
Instrument Reservation:
- Users MUST make reservations one week before and submit the application form before use.
- After the reservation is confirmed, you must notify the cancellation three days before use if you cannot use it for any reason. If you do not cancel at least 3 days in advance, you will be considered to have used the reservation period and will still have to pay.
Note:
- Charges will be calculated from the reservation time. Exceeding 10 minutes will be counted as one hour. If the previous user's use delays you, this time will not be included in your reservation time.
- If you are 30 minutes late for your scheduled reservation, your time slot may be given to other users who need to use the machine. If you encounter a problem with the experiment and cannot use the machine, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. If you do not cancel, you will still be charged the full fee for your reservation period.
- If you need to cancel your reservation, please notify us at least three days in advance. You will not receive a refund if you cancel less than three days in advance. Please do not cancel without a valid reason, as this wastes the workforce, time, medicine, and laser life.
- If you participate in regularly held training courses, you will not be charged a teaching fee. However, you will be charged a teaching fee if you request teaching outside of the teaching hours.
- After completing training and passing the assessment, you can operate and use the instrument independently. Please review the charging standards above.
- Our charging standards are recalculated every January and July. If adjustments are made, we will announce them separately.
