System Open Level
- General working hours: Level C
- Night and holiday period: closed
Level Description
- Level A: Open to students who need to use it. They can operate it on their own after training and assessment.
- Level B: Each professor nominates one student for training, while the rest operate under those who have been trained. Professors with multiple students using the instrument can request an increase in the number of students receiving training.
- Level C: The instrument administrator selects several students recommended by the professor to receive training. After passing the assessment, they can self-operate the instrument and be responsible for delegated operation service.
- Level D: The laboratory's technical staff only accept delegated services and are unavailable for general use.
- Flow cytometer Analyzer
- On-campus: NT$400 per hour
- Off-campus: NT$800 per hour
- Each reservation must be at least two hours. It will be counted as two hours if used for less than two hours.
- Flow cytometry high-speed four-way sorting system (Sorter)
- On-campus: Start-up fee NT$1,000 + machine usage fee NT$800 per hour
- Off-campus: Start-up fee NT$1,000 + machine usage fee NT$1,600 per hour
- This instrument includes laser system startup calibration and sorting system cleaning at the end, so each reservation must be at least two hours (including one hour of switching on and off).
- Use for less than two hours will be calculated as two hours.
Instrument usage regulations:
- This instrument is designed for general cell samples. Isotopes and infectious samples are strictly prohibited.
- To avoid blocking the pipeline, the sample must be filtered through a filter with appropriate pore size, and please inform the sample particle size first. The recommended concentration of the sample for sorting is at least 2 × 105 cells/ml.
- Besides the sheath fluid and ethanol used in the fluidic system, please prepare the necessary reagents (antibodies, fluorescent dyes, etc.) required for testing the sample and the buffer or cell culture solution for suspending cells.
- The standard operating procedures must be followed while using the instrument. Please make sure to comply with the instrument usage regulations. Failure to follow the rules three times will suspend the right to use.
- Every time you use the system, you should confirm whether the instrument system is regular. After use, restore and keep the system clean. If there is any abnormality during conducting experiments, immediately notify the instrument administrator to avoid disputes over the use of the instrument and clarify the attribution of responsibility.
- If the instrument malfunctions, please inform the technical personnel immediately. Do not attempt to disassemble or assemble the instrument yourself. Inform the technical operator or instrument manager of the instrument failure immediately. You must bear the related repair expenses if the instrument is damaged for personal reasons.
- Do not add any parts, change any system settings, or install software without the consent of the instrument administrator.
- To access image-related data, bring your own DVD burner. USB access is strictly prohibited.
Instrument Management
- The instrument is managed by full-time faculty members with experience operating it in the College of Life Science. Relevant personnel, funding, and usage issues are discussed with full-time faculty members with experience operating the instrument from the College of Life Science.
- Personnel, funding, and charging standards must be submitted to the Department's Resource Committee for resolution and implemented after approval by the Department Affairs Meeting.
- At least one or two seminars are held annually for education and training. If necessary, various training fees may be charged.
- The instrument has an assistant for equipment management and maintaining the surrounding environment. Depending on usage conditions, it will be decided whether to increase staffing.
- The instrument has several instrument seed instructors. They are postgraduate students with certification and operating licenses (certified and issued by the instrument manufacturer) who can lead and assist users in operating the instrument. In principle, seed instructors can be paid with a work-study allowance. However, no salary will be paid if the seed instructor leads their laboratory users to operate the instruments.
Eligibility:
- The use of this instrument requires certified qualifications.
- Experience with flow cytometry
- Participate in the "FACS Usage Principles" and "FACS Hands-on Operation" courses held, and only after passing the certification exam can you be certified for self-operation.
- Note: At least one or two seminars are held annually for education and training. If necessary, various training fees may be charged.
Instrument Reservation:
- The reservation must be registered and submitted one week before the intended use date.
- The current opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00-17:00.
(Each reservation should be at least two hours, including one hour for switching on and off the instrument.) - After the reservation is confirmed, you must notify the cancellation three days before the use if you cannot use it for some reason. If you fail to cancel your reservation three days in advance, it will be regarded as if you had used the reserved time slot, and you will have to pay for it.
Notes:
- The charges are calculated from the reservation time; every 10 minutes or more will be counted as one hour. The delay caused by the former user will not be counted.
- If you are more than 30 minutes late for the reservation time, the administrator may arrange this time period for other users who are required to operate the machine. If you find a problem with the experiment and cannot get on the machine, please cancel the appointment immediately. Otherwise, the fees for this appointment period will be charged.
- After scheduling an appointment, if you are unable to attend, please make sure to cancel at least 3 days in advance. Failure to do so will result in no refund. To prevent waste of resources, including staff time, medication, and laser usage, please do not cancel without a valid reason.
- There is no charge for workshops held regularly. However, additional training fees will apply to those who need instruction otehr than routine workshop training courses.
- Participants who complete the workshop and pass the certification can self-operate the instrument independently. Please refer to the above for pricing information.
- Fees will be recalculated in January and July each year. Any necessary adjustments will be announced separately.
