How to Find a Thesis Advisor?
- Advisor Qualifications:The thesis advisor must be a full-time faculty member from the student’s respective major group. Students should visit the department websites to understand the professors' research areas and contact details. Students are encouraged to proactively inquire about the professor’s willingness to supervise their thesis.
- Advisor Assignment by Group:
- Photonics Group: Must choose a professor from the Department of Photonics.
- Electrical and Control Group: Must choose a professor from the Institute of Electrical and Control Engineering.
- Communications Engineering Group: Must choose a professor from the Institute of Communications Engineering.
- Computer Science Group: Can choose professors from the Institute of Computer Science and Engineering, Institute of Network Engineering, Institute of Multimedia Engineering, Institute of Data Science and Engineering, or Institute of Information Security.
- Advisor Limits:
- College of Electrical Engineering (In-service Master’s Program): There is no upper limit on the number of students a professor can supervise.
- College of Computer Science (In-service Master’s Program): Each professor can supervise up to 12 in-service students.
- Note: The number of students listed on the faculty’s lab website typically refers to the limit for regular students, and the supervisor limit for in-service students is calculated separately.
- If necessary, with the original advisor's approval, additional professors from other groups may be invited to serve as co-advisors.
- Please follow the regulations to find an appropriate advisor and confirm their willingness to supervise as early as possible. Afterward, fill out the Advisor Agreement Form (located in the Student Section > Form Downloads > Thesis Advisor Agreement) and submit it to the program office.
