On May 4, 2025, the Yangming Campus of National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University, located on "Taipei's First Street", held the "Yangming Day" event, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary. Fifty years ago, Dr. Paul Han, an internationally renowned scholar in the field of neurophysiology, was invited by the government to serve as the first dean of the National Yang Ming Medical College. During the nearly ten years that President Han worked hard to govern Yang Ming, he made his on-campus residence his home, proposed an important training model that influenced the development of medical education in Taiwan - the mentor system and the honor system, and led teachers and students to practice the spirit of personality cultivation and social welfare on campus - the " The Education Spirit of Paul Han".

       Liberal Arts College of NYCU was established in 2021, and proposed a unique liberal arts education training model of "Four-in-One (that is, combining the four-dimensional educational strategies of professional, general, community and research to cultivate individuals with both free minds and practical justice)", which has been in operation to this day. The educational philosophy behind the Four-in-One Model is quite consistent with the education spirit of Paul Han, so Paul Han can be regarded as one of the pioneers of liberal arts education in our campus. In order to vigorously promote liberal arts education that is different from the traditional general education model at the Yangming campus, the LAC chose President Paul Han’s on-campus residence, the "Paul Han House", as its base. With the strong support of President Lin Qihong, the head of theLAC, Professor Yang, the head of the LAC and Associate Professor Chang , the deputy head of the Academy of Yangming Campus, the Academy launched the "Paul Han House Lecture Hall" to carry out a series of liberal arts education activities at the Yangming campus. Therefore, the Paul Han House Lecture Hall can also be regarded as a venue for inheriting the educational spirit of Paul Han.

        The Lecture Hall was officially launched in the 112-2 semester, and operates in the form of three lectures or activities per semester. So far, nearly nine lectures have been held. The theme design of the lecture hall is centered on the inheritance and evolution of Han Wei's educational spirit, radiating from the Yangming campus to Shilin, Beitou and even the world, covering a variety of topics such as: "Official and unofficial history of the Yangming campus since its establishment", "Historical photo essays of Beitou, where the Yangming campus is located", "Experience sharing by early members of the Yangming Crusaders Club", "Carbon emission sustainability issues of our school", "Local cultural landscape of the Bei'an Stone Industry", "Service and growth of volunteers in our school's international service clubs", "Music, media, stories and time", "Sustainable society and human rights practice of SDGs", and "Inheritance of experience of medical volunteer groups of international non-governmental organizations". The conference attracted more than 300 teachers, students and community members. In addition to helping the new generation of students in our school understand the educational spirit of Paul Han, it also demonstrated that our school’s liberal arts education provides a platform and mechanism for two-way communication among community members.

        Looking into the future of the Former Residence Lecture Hall, the library will continue to plan interesting and progressive activities with liberal arts education implications. It will also try to provide an audition mechanism for teachers and students of the school to participate and choose the desired activity topics and types, and to increase the level of participation of the demand side in liberal arts education activities, so that the Former Residence Lecture Hall will become a place to cultivate students to become modern progressive citizens and inherit the educational spirit of Paul Han.
