Scope of instrument use and technical support:
  • Sectioning of small specimens.
  • Transmission electron microscopy (ultrathin sectioning) observation.
  • Diamond knives and glass knives.
  • Ultrathin sectioning of specimens:
    • $3,000 per specimen for on-campus faculty research programs.
    • Total 8-10 specimens per week
    • 4 mesh per specimen, excluding staining, limit 4 specimens per faculty member.

  4. Ultrathin sectioning of specimens:

  • Qualifications: Users must have used the same or a similar model of ultramicrotome or have taken training courses in electron microscopy techniques.
  • Users must register with the administrator 48 hours in advance, on-campus extension 65455 (Ms. Yu Yuying) or 65235 (Ms. Ho Shuli)
  1. You should bring your own supplies, such as glass strips, slicing tanks, copper grids, tweezers, etc.
  2. Instructions and Operation manuals are available at the administrator's office. You are welcome to lend or copy it. Read the manual carefully before use and follow the instructions strictly.
  3. Never touch the main arm with your hands when slicing ultra-thin sections. If the machine is damaged, the user shall be responsible for repairing it and suspend the right to use it.
  4. After using the machine, you should turn it off according to the procedure, remove your specimens and glass knives, clean up the resin debris on the machine and the glass debris on the Knife Maker, and leave the machine only after the administrator has approved your operation. Taking the specimen holder, knife holder, or other accessories out of the slicing room is strictly prohibited.
  5. Violators of this rule will be warned for the first time, suspended for one month for the second time, and canceled for the third time.
These rules have been approved and implemented by the Electron Microscope Committee and will be amended as well. (Revised 101.3.15)
