Usage Hours Calculation
- Machine usage fee: If the usage is less than 15 minutes, it will be counted as 15 minutes.
- Operator's fee: Usage of less than 1 hour will be counted as 1 hour.
- If you want to use the machine on a Saturday, Sunday, or national holiday, and the operator is not qualified to operate the machine, the operator fee will be charged. As it is necessary to assign staff to monitor and assist in the operation of the equipment, an additional overtime charge of $1,000/day will be added, and the flexible rate can be discussed during the consultation.

Opening Hours
- The machine can be used for cellular and animal experiments, and it can be operated 24 hours a day. It is necessary to comply with the relevant operating rules (e.g., warming up the machine before operation).
- For those who do not have the relevant qualifications, as it requires the assistance of professionally licensed personnel to irradiate, the operating hours should be in line with the working hours of the management unit, or the appointment should be discussed in advance, as described below.
- Machine operating hours: Except for machine repair, maintenance, calibration, or troubleshooting hours, the machine can be booked from 08:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. Usage is measured in 15-minute increments or less than 15 minutes.
- If the proposed time of use is not open to the public, additional service hours must be negotiated with the operator in advance.
- Please check the reservation schedule through the Instrument Reservation System. Unqualified users should contact the responsible unit (the laboratory of Professor Hui-Yen Chuang of the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Radiology Sciences, ext. 65993 and 65995), discuss the use and experiment content with the specialist, and then make a reservation on the Instrument Reservation System.
- To make a reservation through the Instrument Reservation System, please register an account and book for use 5 days in advance. If you are unable to operate the instrument for any reason after the reservation, you must cancel the reservation by 17:00 of the previous day or ask the Instrument Center to cancel the reservation for you. If you do not cancel the reservation, you will be charged according to the original reservation.
- You can contact the responsible unit for the instrument within three working days following your booking to discuss the details of your experiment, including sample preparation, experimental methods, and setup. If you plan to irradiate mice, you will need to prepare or rent a mouse fixator and lead shielding.
- For non-NYCU users, please consult with the responsible unit, then download the application form, fill in the number of hours of use and the related fees, and send it to the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Radiological Sciences (Room 246, 2/F, Biomedical Engineering Building, ext. 65993, 65995) to confirm the time of use.
- The machine may be misused due to human negligence, resulting in damage to the system, load elements, and related accessories or even injury to personnel.
The instrument shall be operated by professional personnel from the responsible unit and shall not be operated by the user. - Experiments and Mouse Fixation Device
- For those who have their mouse fixator, the user must provide a mouse fixator with lead shielding, and follow the instructions and consultation on the use of the device.
- Those who do not have a mouse fixator can use the existing mouse fixator of the responsible unit to borrow it on a rental basis, and the related charges are described in the charging standard.
- After the experiment, the user should clean up the environment and bring back the samples immediately. All the equipment borrowed should be cleaned and returned on the same day.
- Violation of regulations
- If the user does not comply with the rules of experimental safety or does not follow the standard procedures, causing damage to the fault, then the user's laboratory will be required to compensate for the price and will be suspended from the use of the right for one month.
- Please fill in the ‘Instrument Use Status Record Form’ before and after use. If the form is found to be inaccurate, the laboratory shall suspend the right of use for one week.
- Users are requested to take care of the instruments and related equipment, and to ensure the maintenance of a clean and tidy environment.
