The College of Science at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University was established in 1979. Since its inception, the College of Science has consistently adhered to rigorous fundamental science training and research and teaching in innovative technological applications. Through over 40 years of dedicated effort, growth, and development, the College of Science has become a crucial hub for academic research and talent cultivation in Taiwan, establishing an irreplaceable position in Taiwan's higher education and interdisciplinary innovative research.
The College of Science comprises 3 departments and 7 graduate institutes, namely the Department (and Graduate Institute) of Electrophysics, the Department (and Graduate Institute) of Applied Mathematics, the Graduate Institute of Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing, the Department (and Graduate Institute) of Applied Chemistry, the Graduate Institute of Molecular Science, the Graduate Institute of Statistics, and the Graduate Institute of Physics. Additionally, it houses 2 programs: the Bachelor of Science Degree Program, the International Graduate Program in Sustainable Chemical Science and Technology (established in collaboration with the Institute of Chemistry, Academia Sinica), and an Executive Master's Program.

The College of Science places equal emphasis on teaching and research in its administrative development. To cultivate well-rounded talents, it focuses on professional disciplinary training as a foundation, combined with interdisciplinary approaches, technological applications, and industry-oriented skills training. The College actively plans diverse extended courses. Through participation in independent or collaborative research, students will acquire excellent academic knowledge and the core competencies for innovative technologies. Furthermore, by promoting internationalization and deepening international research collaborations, the College aims to broaden students' international perspectives and cultivate their leadership abilities in communication and integration.
The College of Science boasts a solid faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching. Its outstanding research achievements drive research teams to continuously contribute to cutting-edge international scientific fields, producing high-quality publications, leading technological innovations, and exerting significant academic influence. The faculty includes numerous fellows of international professional societies (APS Fellow, RSC Fellow, OSA Fellow, Advance HE), serves on the editorial boards of important international journals, and has received significant domestic and international academic awards, such as the National Chair Professor and Academic Award of the Ministry of Education, the Presidential Science Award, the Outstanding Research Award of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Sun Yat-sen Academic Award, and the Wu Ta-You Memorial Award. The College of Science also actively invites top international scholars to join its research teams, appointing them as chair and visiting professors, injecting genuine momentum into international research collaboration and education.
In terms of self-positioning, based on the educational philosophy of "A Humanistic Heart, Technological Passion," the College aspires to integrate technology and humanities, creating a diverse and inclusive, deeply rooted and forward-looking excellent academic environment.
