Remarks:
- If the usage is less than 1 hour, it will be calculated as 1 hour.
- Personnel expenses are calculated additionally on a daily basis.
- The above does not include the fixture design fee for experiments, which is a one-time cost for creating a custom fixture, the use of existing fixtures, and the machine operation service fee, which is a charge for the operation of the machine by our trained staff.
- Machine operators must obtain a certificate of at least 8 hours of training from the manufacturer.
Term of Use
- The operator must possess the necessary qualifications to operate the machine. The management unit will approve the qualifications, which include having taken relevant courses, passing the examination and certification by the administrator, or having experience using the same machine or training certificate.
- It is important to note that the maximum load of this machine is 3,000 Newtons. Careless operation can lead to machine damage, load cell damage, and compromise experimental safety. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the above safety and software operation settings.
Only professionals can operate the machine and must not manage it alone. A machine technician must be present at all times during operation. Additionally, machine rental is not allowed for non-professional users.
Opening Hours
The device can conduct static and dynamic load experiments. It can operate for 24 hours, making conducting long-term experiments such as dynamic load experiments possible. However, the device can only be used during the working hours of the management unit. Below are the details:
- Machine Operating Hours: It can operate 24/7, except during maintenance, repair, calibration, and troubleshooting. Usage is calculated based on hourly units; any usage of less than an hour will be counted as an hour.
- Operating Hours for Users: From Monday to Friday, the machine is open to users from 09:00 to 19:00. During the reservation period, users can operate during the available operating hours. If the operating hours are not open to the public, additional operating hours must be arranged with the technical staff in advance.
- Our professional staff from the responsible unit will operate the machine, ensuring a secure and efficient operation. Please contact us by phone to make an appointment for consultation before using the machine. Dr. Hsuan-Wen Wang, Department of Biomedical Engineering (Room B1F-DB105, Ext. 65461), is available to discuss the contents of the experiment, such as samples, experimental methods, setup of the experiment, etc. Please prepare your fixtures if specific fixtures are required.
- After consultation is completed and confirmed feasible, please download the application form from the Instrumentation Resource Center website and fill in the number of hours of use and the related fees (the technician will arrange the machine time slot). Send the application to Dr. Hsuan-Wen Wang, Department of Biomedical Engineering (Room B1F-DB105, Ext. 65461). The technician will review your application and notify within two working days of approval. They will also contact you with the time of delivery and machine use.
- To use the equipment, the user must register an account with the Instrument Reservation System before making an online reservation. Make a reservation five working days in advance. Suppose you are unable to operate the machine for any reason after booking. In that case, you must cancel the booking one day beforehand using the Instrument Resource Center system; if you do not cancel the booking, you will be charged according to the booking time.
- Please arrive at the site at the scheduled time for operation. Our professional operators will be present to guide you through the process. Please prepare the test samples and related supplies.
- At the end of use, both parties will confirm the signing. Please take photos of the experimental setup and machine diagrams for your records. The operator technician will provide the raw data, and rest assured. The samples will be returned in full after the completion of the experiment.
- It is important to note that using the machine without proper care may damage the machine and its components or even cause personal injury. Therefore, it is essential to consult with a specialist before using the machine and agree on usage specifications, content, and fees.
Only a specialist designated by the responsible unit could operate the machine. Clients are not permitted to operate the machine by themselves. - Consultation Fees:
- For doctoral or doctoral-class trained personnel (ISO 17025 and machine use training courses), the consultation fee is a fixed amount of NT$2,000/time for initial use. The fee may be waived for similar tests or considered for renewals or previous consultations based on evaluation by the responsible unit.
- Coordination of Experimental Content and Fixtures:
- Clients must provide the correct fixtures and follow the instrument's usage specifications and consultation instructions.
- If the client cannot provide the fixture and the responsible unit has the fixture, the rental charges will be coordinated during consultation based on the experiment's content.
- If the client cannot provide the fixture, the responsible unit can design and manufacture the fixture, with the amount coordinated during consultation based on the experiment's content.
- Experimental Results Provided:
- Raw data from experiments will be provided.
- Clients are requested to take photos of the experimental setup and the machine.
- All samples used in experiments will be returned upon completion.
- Handling Violations:
- If an operator fails to adhere to safety rules or standard procedures, resulting in malfunction or damage, the operator's laboratory will compensate and suspend the operator's rights to use the equipment for one month.
- It is essential to accurately fill in the "Instrument Usage Record Form" before and after use to avoid a one-week suspension in case of inaccuracies.
- Anyone found pretending to hold certification to operate an instrument will be suspended from using the equipment for one month.
- After the experiment completion, users must handle and store experimental samples and data properly, as the center will not be responsible. Timely return of samples is encouraged to avoid inconveniencing others or losing samples.
- Users are expected to maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the instrument environment and take good care of the instrument and related equipment.
These rules were approved by the Instron E3000 Linear-Torsion All-Electric Dynamic Test Instrument management committee meeting and submitted to the Users' Committee of the NYCU Instrumentation Resource Center for review. (revised on 2024.07.15)
