Type III water (RO)
- Purification process: reverse osmosis treatment.
- Suitable for general experiments and washing containers.
- Model: RiOS-100, Milli-Q Direct and Milli-Q EQ7016 (integrated system of pure water and ultrapure water)
Type I water (Ultrapure)
- Purification process: reverse osmosis + deionization (Milli-Q).
- Suitable for HPLC, biochemical analysis, DNA, Protein, cell culture, chemical microanalysis, reagent preparation and sample dilution.
- Model: Milli-Q Reference, Milli-Q Direct and Milli-Q EQ7016 (integrated pure water and ultrapure water system)
- ※Type I water is not resistant to overnight storage, please take an appropriate amount.
- Please do not leave the site when fetching water, as it may overflow.
- It is important to perform the shutdown procedure, especially since the VALVE shutdown is often neglected; please make sure the VALVE is turned off (in the OFF position) when leaving.
Since the type I and type III water is precious and the type I water (ultrapure water) is expensive to regenerate, the amount of water for each fetch is limited.
- For each fetch, the maximum amount of type III water (RO) you can take is 20L; for type I water (ultrapure), it's 10L. Please adhere to these limits to ensure the proper usage and preservation of our ultrapure water resources.
- Please take enough for the day (do not fetch too much and store it, or the quality will become worse and a waste! Please cherish the resources).
About the pH value of ultrapure water
- Ultrapure water has a very low conductivity due to the absence of H+ and OH– ions. As a result, conductivity (inorganics value) is used to measure its quality rather than pH value. Suppose the conductivity of ultrapure water is around 0.055 μS.cm-1, Inorganics value 18.2 MΩ.cm (resistivity at 25°C), which means there are almost no other ions in it, and it's safe to use in experiments.
- Ultrapure water quickly forms carbonic acid due to the dissolution of carbon dioxide in the air, resulting in a decrease in pH value (the impedance of ultrapure water may drop from 18.2 to 4 MΩ.cm in an hour due to the dissociation of carbonic acid, and the pH will drop to about 4~5.) It is recommended to take it fresh before use.
