  • The scope of application of this machine is as follows:
    • For fresh tissue sections.
    • Slicing range 0.5-500 um
    • Specimen head temperature set to -45°C
Before use:
  1. Please register your and your instructor's names in the registration book. Ensure the machine is in good condition and the cryochamber is clean.
  2. Quick freezing of the specimen:
    1. Activate the “Cryobar” button on the control panel.
    2. Use a freezing compound (such as OCT) to fix the specimen onto the Object Disc (specimen holder)
    3. Place the Object Disc (specimen holder) on the Cryobar to freeze the specimen.
After use:
  1. Clean the used Object Disc (specimen holder) and return it to its original location if you borrow it from the center.
  2. Place back the protective cover of the Blade Holder.
  3. Clean the remaining residual glue and specimen inside the cryochamber.
  4. Tighten the handle clamps.
  5. Close the window of cryochamber.
  6. Press Stand-by on the control panel.
  1. Reservations must be made online using the Instrument Reservation System before use.
  2. Reservations can be made as early as two weeks in advance. Each user can book two sessions in 2 weeks, with a maximum of five hours for each session.
  3. For general operation training, please contact the center's staff for demonstration.
  4. Please use the original labeled Object Disc (specimen chuck), and do not take the borrowed Object Disc and related items away from the Center.
  5. Do not turn off the main switch of the machine.
  6. Please keep it clean and functional for all students and faculty.
  7. Please read the user's manual before use.
  8. Please do not leave your belongings inside the cryochamber after use, and take away the used blades and waste.
  9. Please bring your own anti-roll plate!
