Service Introduction
In response to information security considerations, certain on-campus resources such as administrative systems and campus-licensed software are restricted for use within the campus network. Consequently, the Information Center provides an SSL-VPN service, allowing users to access these resources as if they were on campus while being off-campus by connecting to the campus network via VPN.
 
Instructions for Use
  • The system currently supports: Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS.
  • This service requires installing the "FortiClient VPN" connection program and is available exclusively for NYCU faculty, staff, and students.
Operating Instructions
  • First, download and install the "FortiClient VPN" client.
  • Set up a new connection. Enter the server URL as https://vpn.nycu.edu.tw
  • After launching the program, log in to the VPN service with your NYCU Portal account and password.
For detailed instructions, refer to the following examples:
 
Install the SSL VPN client program (FortiClient VPN) if using for the first time by downloading the installation file provided.
  • Double-click FortiClientVPNSetup_7.2.7.1116_x64.exe to start the installation.

  • Check "Yes, I have read and accept the terms," then click "[ Next ]."
 
  • Click [ Install ] to proceed with the installation.
 
 
 
  • After installation, a FortiClient VPN icon will appear on the desktop. Launch the “FortiClient VPN” program.
 
  • Check "I acknowledge that this..." and click [ I accept ].

 
  • Click [Configure VPN].
 
  • Enter
  • Connection Name:NYCU
  • Remote Gateway:vpn.nycu.edu.tw
  • After entering, click [ Save ].
 
  • In the login screen, enter your NYCU single sign-on account and password, then click [ Connect ].
 
  • For the Server Certificate Warning, click [ Yes ].
 
  • To disconnect from FortiClient VPN, click [ Disconnect ].
Install the SSL VPN client (FortiClient VPN) by downloading the file provided.
Double-click on FortiClientVPNSetup_7.0.13.0451_macosx.dmg.
 
  • Continue with the installation by clicking [ Install ].
 
  • Click [ Continue ].

 

 
  • Click [ Agree ].
  • Click [ Install ].

 
  • Enter your computer’s login password, then confirm the software installation.

 
  • When "FortiTray" requests to join VPN settings, click [ Allow ].
 
  • After successful installation, go to [ Applications ] and double-click to run FortiClient.

 
  • Check "I acknowledge that this..." and click [ I accept ].

 
  • Click [ Configure VPN ].

 
  • Open "Forti Client" from Applications and configure VPN settings as follows:
  • Connection Name:NYCU
  • Remote Gateway:vpn.nycu.edu.tw
  • After entering, click [ Save ].

 
  • In the login screen, enter your NYCU single sign-on account and password, then click [ Connect ].

 
  • For the Server Certificate Warning, click [ Yes ].

 
  • To disconnect from FortiClient VPN, click [Disconnect].
  • Search for “FortiClient VPN” in the App Store and install it.

 
  • When prompted that FortiClient VPN wants to add VPN configurations, tap [ Allow ].

 
  • Tap [ I accept ].

 
  • Tap [ Select Connection ] to enter the settings.

 
  • Tap [ Add Configuration ].

 
  • Enter:
  • Name:NYCU
  • Server Address:https://vpn.nycu.edu.tw
  • Port :443
  • Then tap [ Save ].

 
  • Under "USER VPN GATEWAY," select "NYCU," then tap [< VPN] to return.

 
  • Tap [ Connect ] to start the connection.

 
  • Tap [ OK ].
 

 
  • Enter your NYCU Portal account and password, then press [ OK ].

 
  • Once logged in, the status will display  "Connected" and show connection information.
  • Search for “FortiClient VPN” in the Google Play Store and install it.
 

 
  • When prompted with "Welcome to Forti Client VPN" and a request to add VPN settings, tap [ OK ].
 

 
  • Tap [ I ACCEPT ].

 
  • When prompted to grant permissions, tap [ OK ].
 
  • Tap [ ENABLE ].
  • Enter "VPN Name" as:NYCU, select "SSL VPN," then tap [ Create ].

 
  • Tap [ Servers ] to enter the settings.
  • Enter "Server" as:vpn.nycu.edu.tw, then tap [ OK].

 
  • After entering, tap the menu icon at the top right.

 
  • Tap [VPN].
 

 
  • Under VPN Tunnel, select "NYCU."

 
 
  • Tap [ Connect ].
​
  • Enter your NYCU Portal account and password, then tap [ Login ].

 
  • Tap [ Continue ].

 
  • Once logged in, the status will display " Connected " along with connection details.
