This February, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) marks its fourth anniversary with a vibrant month-long celebration under the "Pioneer" theme, symbolizing its steadfast direction in interdisciplinary integration and future development. This year's festivities are more significant and bolder, bringing together students, faculty, and alumni in a thrilling blend of tradition, innovation, and adventure.
"Pioneer Ride" – Connecting Campuses on Two Wheels
Leading this year's anniversary celebrations, NYCU President Chi-Hung Lin, alongside university administrators, embarked on an ambitious cross-campus cycling journey. The "Pioneer Ride" began shortly after the Lunar New Year, linking NYCU's Taipei, Yilan, and Tainan campuses through a symbolic cycling relay.

“Pioneer Ride” connects campuses by bike at Hsinchu.
On February 22, nearly a hundred faculty and students gathered at HSR Hsinchu Station to kick off the final leg, cycling through Liujia and Boai Campuses before reaching the grand finale at Guangfu Campus, where they were met with thunderous cheers. This half-month-long journey embodied the unity and interconnectedness of NYCU's diverse academic community.
Kart Racing Fever Hits Campus
For the first time in NYCU's history, go-kart racing took center stage in the anniversary festivities. Inspired by the university's renowned NYCU Vulpes Racing Team. More than just a competition, the high-speed showdown captured the essence of pushing limits and charging ahead, a perfect reflection of this year's "Pioneer" theme. Laughter, cheers, and the roar of engines filled the air, making this event one of the celebration's highlights.

Campus as a Living Art Gallery
Beyond sports and adventure, NYCU also showcased its rich artistic legacy with a guided YUYU YANG Lifescape Sculpture Tour at the Guangfu Campus. The acclaimed sculptor YUYU YANG first collaborated with NYCU in 1996, crafting the iconic stainless-steel sculpture "Affinity and Wisdom (緣慧潤生)" to commemorate the university's centennial.

Now, 12 of his large-scale masterpieces grace the campus, transforming it into an open-air art gallery. This year's special tour offered participants a deeper appreciation of the fusion of art, technology, and academia at NYCU.
Building a Smarter Future: Digital Campus Showcase
At the forefront of technological advancement, NYCU’s anniversary celebration also featured a Digital Campus Exhibition, unveiling the university’s latest breakthroughs in smart education, AI-powered administration, and sustainable campus solutions. This year’s exhibition introduced cutting-edge innovations, including:
- XR & AI-powered immersive classrooms for next-level learning experiences.
- 5G indoor positioning technology enhancing campus security and efficiency.
- High-performance computing (HPC) clusters, expanding GPU resources for research.
- Generative AI-powered student assistant, developed in collaboration with MediaTek and Phison.
- Innovative building energy management system, integrating IoT-based monitoring.
- Data-driven campus services include AI chatbots, AR navigation apps (NYCU AR APP), and virtual campus tours (NYCU Campus VR 360 Guide Service).

NYCU’s commitment to digital transformation is not just about upgrading infrastructure—it’s about reshaping the future of education. With interdisciplinary collaboration and technological innovation at its core, NYCU continues to pioneer smarter, more sustainable, and more inclusive learning environments.
Celebrating NYCU's Boundless Vision
As NYCU enters its fifth year, the university's bold "Pioneer" theme serves as a reminder of its continuous journey—one that embraces innovation, connection, and the spirit of exploration. From cross-campus cycling and high-speed racing to artistic appreciation and digital breakthroughs, this year's anniversary celebration was a testament to NYCU's dynamic, forward-thinking identity.
