National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) announced its 2025 Outstanding Alumni on February 22, showcasing distinguished technological, healthcare, and communications achievements.

Digital Transformation Pioneer - Sean Pien
Taking the helm as Microsoft Taiwan's General Manager in 2022, Sean Pien has led his team in advancing cloud and AI technologies, driving enterprise digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness. He is dedicated to empowering industries and nurturing next-generation tech talent, bridging academia and industry while reducing the digital divide.

With an innovative spirit and technology as the driving force, while implementing cybersecurity protection, he collaborates with the government to guide Taiwan into the smart economy era, transforming Taiwan into an AI-smart island. As an alumnus, he further assists the future Chu-Ming Hospital in implementing cloud and AI technologies, bringing revolutionary power to medical innovation and laying a solid foundation for the digital future.

Autonomous Driving Pioneer - Bing-Fei Wu
Overcoming challenges of polio-induced mobility limitations, Professor Wu has become a Chair Professor at NYCU's Institute of Electrical and Control Engineering. As Taiwan's autonomous driving pioneer, he developed the country's first road-legal self-driving car in 2002, laying the foundation for Taiwan's autonomous vehicle technology.

Combining Bio+AI, he developed innovative technology using standard cameras for non-contact measurement of heart rate, blood pressure, and blood oxygen levels, achieving FDA certification. His startup, "FaceHear," has garnered international awards in digital health and telemedicine, strengthening Taiwan's global influence.

Centriole Expert - Tang Tang
Currently serving as Vice President of Academia Sinica and an Academician, Dr. Tang's academic career is synonymous with cellular centriole research. His persistence and curiosity led to the groundbreaking global discovery of the relationship between human centriole CPAP genes and microcephaly, opening new possibilities for rare disease treatment.

Pandemic Hero - Jen-Hsiang Chuang
Taiwan's success in combating COVID-19 owes much to Dr. Chuang, the current Director General of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). As spokesperson for the Central Epidemic Command Center for 1,121 days during the pandemic, he became a familiar figure to the public and media. Beyond his public role, Dr. Chuang is a public health scholar who has served the CDC for 20 years, contributing significantly to Taiwan's epidemic prevention system and disease surveillance digitalization.

Nokia's Digital Transformation Leader - Jason Liu
While Nokia has exited the consumer mobile phone market, it has successfully transformed into a global leader in communications network equipment. In Taiwan, major telecom providers, including Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile, utilize Nokia's 4G and 5G network equipment.

This success is attributed to Chairman and CEO Ming-Ta Liu, who once studied telecommunications engineering despite his father's misconception that he would become a telephone pole climber. Liu and his team work tirelessly to maintain Taiwan's digital economy infrastructure.

Wistron ITS's Key Navigator - Ching Hsiao
Ching-Chih Hsiao, Chairman and CEO of Wistron Information Technology Services (Wistron ITS), leveraged 22 years of international experience in the United States to turn around the then-struggling company in 2004.

With his global vision, he successfully transformed Wistron ITS into an internationally competitive technology services company. In 2024, Wistron ITS achieved a milestone of NT$10 billion in revenue, becoming a benchmark in Taiwan's IT services industry.

These outstanding alumni demonstrate NYCU's capability to nurture world-class leaders and professionals. Their success stories highlight the university's profound influence across various fields and set exemplary standards for future generations, further solidifying NYCU's leading position in global academia and industry.
